Overview of Program: Boston Public Schools has three exam schools: Boston Latin School Boston Latin Academy and the OBryant School of Math and Science.
Admission to these schools is based on a students grade point average and performance on an entrance exam NWEAs Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Growth tests. NWEAs computer-adaptive MAP Growth tests provide teachers students and parents with an accurate assessment of a students achievement precisely measuring what a child knows and needs to learn. BPS students take this assessment as part of regular school testing; however non-BPS students must attend a weekend test administration at a BPS site to take the MAP test in a standardized environment.
Overview of Stipend Position: Boston Public Schools Office of Welcome Services is hiring FOUR (4) Test Site Coordinators to coordinate and supervise MAP test administration on four test dates for non-Boston Public Schools students applying to exam schools. Each of the selected Test Site Coordinators will be assigned to one of the following testing sites: Boston Latin School OBryant School of Math and Science and the Mario Umana Academy.
MAP testing for exam schools requires careful coordination so that testing proceeds smoothly materials are properly accounted for and student performance is accurately evaluated. The quality of these aspects of testing depends in part on the uniformity of test administration procedures. The Test Site Coordinator will serve as the on-site liaison among NWEA Technical Support (the vendor that provides and scores the test) Boston Public Schools administrators the Technical Coordinator test proctors test support staff and students.
Schedule Requirements: The 2026 Spring test dates are Saturday May 30 from 7:30-3:00 pm; Sunday May 31 from 7:30-3:00 pm; and Sunday June 7 from 7:30-3:00 pm. Interested parties MUST report on Saturday May 30 and may apply for additional test administration dates for additional stipends. Proctors may be required to attend up to 3 hours of training (remote and/or in-person) based on previous experience and to commit to an eight (8)- hour workday for each testing date.
Please note that this is a temporary part-time opportunity to be completed outside of your regular working hours.
Responsibilities: As part of the stipend opportunity Test Site Coordinators will be required to:
- Prior to test dates participate in 36 hours of district-led professional learning; depending on previous experience it may require fewer hours
- Serve as the contact person for the NWEA and Boston Public Schools at your school.
- Coordinate all activities of the testing before during and after actual test administration such as:
- Developing a schedule for the students reporting for the exam
- Ensuring that noises and other disturbances will be minimized for students in testing classrooms (i.e. bell schedule student classroom transitions)
- Developing a check-in process for testing students
- Ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place for students receiving accommodations during testing.
- Coordinating staff to proctor in spillover classrooms
- Creating and updating MAP test sessions for spillover classrooms
- Coordinating student dismissal and ensuring parent pick up takes place
- Communicating with families regarding test timing and additional testing dates.
- In collaboration with BPS train test administrators before test administration.
- Oversee the inventory distribution collection and return of Chromebooks while guaranteeing the security of test materials.
- Work with NWEA Technical Support test proctors and/or BPS administrators to resolve any issues with devices and/or the MAP test.
Qualifications - Required:
- Education: Hold a Bachelors degree
- Extensive experience administering MAP Growth in a classroom setting.
- Experience coordinating and leading standardized testing events
- Ability to troubleshoot technical and student issues in high-pressure situations
- Excellent communication skills especially with students families
- Current authorization to work in the United States
- Currently working in Boston Public Schools
- In-person availability for the required dates
Qualifications - Preferred:
- Current BPS teacher with a Massachusetts teaching license
- Fluent or proficient in a second language
Compensation: $450 stipend per test administration event (stipend includes mandatory training time)
