Job Summary:

The Data and Policy Analysts in the Graduate School work on graduate program data assessment national surveys and reports data visualizations exit surveys and adhoc data requests along with interacting with other campus data stakeholders including the Office of Data Academic Planning and Institutional Research under the Provost. The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of graduate education and the operations of a major research university. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Academic Analysis Planning and Assessment.


The person in this role investigates researches gathers analyzes and summarizes institutional data in support of information to meet the needs for planning and policy-making decisions. More specifically this role provides management information data analyses and visualizations to inform strategic planning decision-making and resource allocation at the institutional level. This position also provides advice to and performance management support for Graduate School leadership.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and disseminates institutional statistical reports to institutional programs working units and leadership (30%)

  • Provides analysis and consultation on a variety of administrative-related matters. Applies expert level subject matter knowledge to support institutional decisions and policymaking through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems (10%)

  • Designs collects analyzes and researches institutional data according to established procedures and regulations (30%)

  • Works on topics that are increasingly complex and on matters that have significant impact to institutional operations (5%)

  • Participates in establishing guidelines and procedures to ensure adequacy quality and reliability of information sources to ensure information systems and databases manage store and retrieve institutional data according to established policies procedures and reporting regulations (15%)

  • Serves as liaison and primary contact to internal and external stakeholders for institutional reporting and compliance external surveys and institutional statistics and data (10%)

Compensation:

Minimum annual salary: $70000. Actual salary will be based on the selected candidates experience and other qualifications. This position may be appointed at the Senior (Institutional Policy Analyst III) level based on the selected candidates qualifications at the time of hire.

Hybrid/Remote Work:

This is a hybrid position. Staff are expected to work a minimum of 3 days per week on-site with the option to work remotely 2 days per week.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree.

  • 3 years of experience working in a role that includes data analysis functions (6 years required for Senior level).

  • 2 years of experience creating manipulating and extracting information from large datasets (4 years required for Senior level).

  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and survey tools such as Qualtrics and SQL.

  • Proficiency in building database tables from other data sets Excel text XML and/or other file types.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree (or equivalent).

  • Experience in higher education.

  • Knowledge of issues faced in graduate education.

  • Proficiency in Tableau.
