Organizational Development and Indigenous Engagement Research Intern - Sudbury Compensation: $39130 per year Science North runs Canadas 2nd and 8th largest science centres and have bases of operation in Sudbury Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie. Science North is currently seeking anOrganizational Development and Indigenous Engagement Research Interntohelpsupport initiatives that strengthen organizational diversity and enhance our ability to attract and engage Indigenous applicants and this role the intern willassistin evaluating current Human Resources practices and assist in developing strategies to help make Science North an even more welcoming and inclusive workplace specificallyfor Indigenous candidates. The position will contribute to organizational development initiatives focused on improving recruitment practices and reducing barriers that Indigenous applicants intern will review and analyze existing recruitment processes at Science North and explore opportunities to strengthen them. This may include assessing job descriptions qualification criteria and other aspects of the hiring process that couldimpactaccessibility and inclusion for Indigenous applicants. Recognizing that building a welcoming workplace requires balancing Indigenous cultural perspectives with existing Western organizational practices the intern will helpidentifythoughtful approaches and methodologies to support this internshipprovidesan opportunity to develop transferable professional skills commonly used in the non-profit sector including research and data analysis related to Indigenous employment and external best practices; Human Resources and talent management; strategy development and report writing; and presenting findings and recommendations to internal North is seeking to fill a one-year internship opportunity that will start as soon as possible. All applicants MUST meet the following internship program eligibility requirements: self-identifies as an Indigenous person including First Nations Métis or Inuitmust be a new entrant into the workforce be transitioning to a new career or be unemployed or underemployed and entering a new fieldresides in Northern Ontariomust have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internshipmust be 18 years of age or oldermust be legally eligible to work in CanadaIdeally reside in Sudbury Position Highlights:Reporting to the Director Organizational Development & IT and working closely with other members of the HR team you willAssess external best practices used by organizations across Canada to strengthen recruitment strategies aimed at increasing Indigenous and BIPOC representation in the workplace. Evaluate current internal practices job descriptions and organizational culture to establish a baseline for improvement. Develop a set of recommendations to enhance job descriptions and selection criteria to better support increased Indigenous and BIPOC representation. Identify cultural and organizational opportunities to strengthen Indigenous inclusion and diversity within the workplace.
