RDI is seeking three (3) newsroom journalists to work in its Montreal newsroom.

Initial assignments include:

  • One position with an early morning weekday schedule.

  • One position assigned to daytime programming on weekdays and/or weekends.

  • One position to meet variable production needs with a schedule that may include weekdays and/or weekends evenings as well as daytime.

These assignments are indicative and may be subject to change.

These are permanent full-time positions. Please indicate in your cover letter which assignment(s) you are interested in.

Your role

As a newsroom journalist you will be responsible for writing scripts preparing presentations and producing audio and visual edits for news programs.

You must be able to write with clarity and rigor on current events and social issues in accordance with the journalistic standards and practices of CBC/Radio-Canada.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.


We are looking for a candidate with the following:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent

  • Three (3) years journalism experience

Skills:

  • Extensive general knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of current events

  • Strong television writing skills

  • Experience in digital journalism is an asset

  • Strong knowledge of editing and production techniques for TV newscasts is an asset

  • Ability to analyze synthesize and think critically

  • Superior French language skills

  • Proficiency in English (reading and speaking) is an asset

  • Understanding of CBC/Radio-Canadas Journalistic Standards and Practices

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Ability and willingness to work evening and weekend shifts
