Epidemiologist II (50732)

Position Objective: Provide epidemiology surveillance research and field investigation support to the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC) Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division (CORVD) by coordinating data collection/analysis producing actionable insights and communicating results to CDC teams and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate collection management and analysis of investigation/surveillance data.
• Develop/revise study protocols questionnaires and data collection instruments.
• Conduct epidemiologic analyses using SAS R or equivalent; write/troubleshoot code.
• Clean data; build reports; develop dashboards/visualizations.
• Support IRB-related activities as needed and maintain data security/confidentiality.
• Prepare slides tables figures and written products for CDC audiences and publications.
• Communicate analytic results clearly to CDC staff and external partners.

Basic Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of demonstrated experience supporting epidemiology/surveillance work (preferably public health)
• Bachelors degree in public health or related field
• Ability to analyze and report on complex datasets using statistical software (e.g. SAS or R)
• Ability to work effectively with CDC staff across multiple organizational levels
• Ability to obtain and maintain required CDC/HHS suitability (Public Trust) and comply with CDC information security/privacy requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with clinical data
• Experience with Power BI Tableau or similar visualization tools
• Ability to perform in a public health emergency response environment
• Strong organizational skills proofreading and professional communication etiquette
• Strong written communication skills for reports/briefings and strong attention to detail
