Limited XRay Learning Program
What the program provides:
- Enrollment in the Control the Dose Limited XRay Course designed to prepare participants for state limited xray exams (where applicable)
- An assigned RT Champion to provide guidance throughout the program including handson lab work and clinical support
Who is eligible:
- Certified Medical Assistants interested in pursuing a Limited XRay career
- Certified Medical Assistants with prior xray experience seeking additional education and/or exam preparation
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) Limited XRay supports clinical and administrative operations in a fastpaced urgent care environment. This role works collaboratively with Medical Providers Radiologic Technologists and clinical team members to deliver highquality patientcentered care.
The MA Limited XRay performs limited capacity xray procedures supports patient flow and completes clinical and administrative responsibilities accurately efficiently and in alignment with GoHealths mission and values.
Essential Functions
Limited XRay Services
- Perform limited xray procedures as permitted under North Carolina regulations
- Properly position patients and apply radiation safety and shielding protocols
- Perform xrays of:
- Upper extremities
- Lower extremities
- Chest
- Communicate xray results to Medical Providers in a timely manner
- Complete daily equipment checks quality assurance and documentation
- Troubleshoot radiology equipment issues and submit service requests as needed
Patient Registration & Front Desk Support
- Register patients and collect required documentation and insurance information
- Verify insurance eligibility and collect copayments
- Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals
- Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries
Patient Preparation & Rooming
- Prepare patients for examination and collect medical histories
- Measure and record vital signs
- Perform pointofcare testing (e.g. flu strep urinalysis ECG HCG)
- Communicate patient flow and care needs to providers and team members
Administrative & Clinical Support
- Maintain accurate documentation within the EHR
- Conduct patient courtesy callbacks
- Perform opening and closing procedures including cash reconciliation
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical and frontdesk areas
Inventory & Supplies
- Stock exam rooms and clinical spaces
- Monitor inventory levels and submit supply requests
- Check expiration dates and ensure proper storage
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Graduate of a Medical Assisting program (preferred)
Experience
- Medical Assistant experience required
- Experience performing xrays preferred
Certifications & Licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required (American Red Cross or AHA)
One of the following Medical Assistant certifications is required:
- CCMA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)
- CMA Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA)
- NCMA National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of urgent care and medical office workflows
- Strong multitasking and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
- Serviceoriented mindset with strong patient focus
- Proficiency with MS Office and electronic medical record systems
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fastpaced clinical environment
