Job Title: K12 STEM Coordinator

Reports to: Chief Academic Officer

Location: In-Person CASLV Central Office Las Vegas NV

Position Type: Full-Time 10-Month (School Year)

Position Summary

The K12 STEM Coordinator (Teacher on Assignment) provides districtwide leadership in science technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) education at Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas. This role advances Corals mission to inspire and empower all students to achieve their highest potential through a rigorous college-preparatory and culturally responsive STEM education that fosters innovation critical thinking and a lifelong love of learning.

The coordinator leads the design coordination and continuous improvement of STEM curriculum instruction and enrichment opportunities across grades K12 including robotics science fairs mathematics competitions and other STEM-focused initiatives. As a teacher leader the coordinator models high-quality instruction coaches and supports teachers and builds partnerships that connect students to authentic STEM pathways and college-ready outcomes at CASLV campuses. The successful candidate demonstrates a deep commitment to working directly with students a genuine love of learning and a passion for helping every student see themselves as a capable STEM learner and future college graduate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program and Instructional Leadership

  • Lead coordinate and monitor all K12 STEM initiatives including robotics programs regional science and engineering fairs national math competitions and other STEM enrichment activities across all Coral campuses.
  • Support vertical alignment of STEM curriculum instruction and assessment to ensure coherence rigor and alignment with college- and career-readiness expectations.
  • Collaborate with school leaders and teacher teams to implement research-based STEM instructional practices including inquiry-based and project-based learning that reflect Corals emphasis on innovation critical thinking and academic excellence.
  • Collect and analyze STEM-related student achievement and participation data to inform program refinement and promote equitable access and representation in STEM across Corals diverse student body.

Teacher Coaching and Professional Learning

  • Design coordinate and facilitate ongoing professional development for teachers focused on STEM content pedagogy data use and technology integration that advance Corals college-preparatory and culturally responsive instructional vision.
  • Provide job-embedded coaching including co-planning co-teaching model lessons and classroom observations with feedback to support effective STEM instruction and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support teachers in integrating robotics coding engineering design and other STEM experiences into the core curriculum to deepen student engagement and real-world application.
  • Promote and help sustain professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on STEM teaching and learning that reflect Corals collaborative culture and shared responsibility for student success.

Student Competitions and Enrichment

  • Organize and oversee student participation in local regional and national STEM competitions (e.g. robotics math Olympiads science fairs engineering challenges) that showcase Coral students talents and support competitive college and scholarship opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and support to site-based advisors and coaches for STEM clubs after-school programs and competition teams emphasizing perseverance teamwork safety and ethical conduct consistent with Corals values.
  • Develop and communicate annual STEM events and competition calendars expectations and logistics to students families and staff to promote broad participation school pride and community engagement.

Partnerships Grants and Resources

  • Build and maintain partnerships with higher education institutions STEM-focused organizations and industry partners to create mentorships externships dual-enrollment opportunities guest speaker series and field experiences aligned with Corals college-going culture.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Academic Programs and development staff to identify write and manage STEM-related grants that expand opportunities and resources for Coral students and teachers.
  • Curate and maintain a bank of high-quality STEM instructional resources digital tools and competition materials that reflect Corals mission and instructional priorities and are accessible to teachers across the network.

General Responsibilities

  • Serve as a districtwide resource on STEM standards best practices and emerging trends ensuring alignment with Corals strategic priorities mission and academic performance goals.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with administrators teachers families and community partners regarding STEM initiatives outcomes and opportunities reinforcing Corals mission and C-A-S-L-V beliefs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Academic Programs to support STEM achievement student engagement and college readiness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Nevada teaching license (or eligibility) in a STEM-related area (e.g. elementary with a strong STEM background secondary math science computer science or engineering).
  • Minimum of three years of successful K12 classroom teaching experience with demonstrated effectiveness in STEM instruction and student achievement.
  • Evidence of leadership experience such as department chair instructional coach club/competition sponsor grade-level lead or Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current NGSS standards inquiry-based learning project-based learning and integration of technology into instruction.
  • Strong organizational communication and collaboration skills with the ability to coordinate complex initiatives across multiple schools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in education STEM education curriculum and instruction or a related STEM field.
  • Experience leading or coordinating STEM competitions (e.g. robotics science fair math Olympiad) or STEM clubs at the school or district level.
  • Experience in designing and delivering professional development for teachers including coaching and mentoring.
  • Experience in grant writing program evaluation or management of STEM-related budgets and resources.
  • Prior experience in a charter magnet or STEM-focused school environment.

Work Year and Compensation

  • Teacher on Assignment position aligned to our teacher work calendar with possible additional days for summer planning competitions and grant-related activities as needed.
