TITLE: UMS Recapture Summer Program Support Staff (Multiple Positions Available)
LOCATION: UMS
SUPERVISOR: Classroom Teachers Summer Coordinator and/or building administrators
SUPERVISES: Students
JOB SUMMARY: The UMS Recapture Support Staff will provide additional support and supervision to students participating in summer programming.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Answer questions and provide a reteach of information to students participating in the program.
Actively participate in the program contribute to daily instruction and complete all assigned tasks.
Initiate and encourage students attending the program. Maintain a positive relationship with the students and staff working in the program.
Ask for guidance and assistance from the coordinator when unable to assist a student.
Monitor and supervise the students within assigned areas of the school.
Support positive approaches for dealing with student behavior.
Utilize de-escalation strategies when needed.
Arrive and depart on time for your scheduled work.
Perform other duties as assigned. (i.e.: taking attendance meal counts program arrival and departure).
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Associates Degree or 60 hours of college credit required
Bachelors degree preferred
EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a school setting
Prior experience working for USD 116 Summer Programming is preferred

De-escalation strategies social and emotional learning strategies and relationship building skills
Leadership skills
Position requires self-initiative and active engagement and participation throughout the day.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Hourly position at the rate of $22/hour for an assigned number of hours/days.
Program runs Monday through Thursday June 8 - July 16 2026 closed June 19th for Juneteenth and July 6th for the 4th of July holiday
Specific hours to be determined by the program coordinator and district director.
Arrive prior to students and leave after students have been dismissed.
Orientation meeting scheduled prior to the program startup.
START DATE: Orientation to be held prior to student start date of June 8 2026
NOTE: This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of support staff. Position is contingent upon grant funding.
