DESCRIPTION:
Join our team as a Software Test Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific where youll contribute to ensuring the quality and reliability of our software solutions. Youll work on advanced products that support scientific research from mass spectrometry instruments to laboratory automation this role youll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute comprehensive test strategies ensuring our software meets the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute predefined test cases and validation protocols for flow cytometry and microscopy software under supervision.
  • Perform basic cell culture and routine immunoassays (e.g. flow cytometry staining ICC/IHC support) to assist in validation activities.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of test documentation including test cases test results and defect logs.
  • Assist in validating software features against real-world biological workflows.
  • Learn and apply concepts of fluorescence compensation and spectral unmixing in flow cytometry experiments.
  • Identify document and report defects using tools such as JIRA or equivalent systems.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers scientists and developers to understand product features and testing requirements.
  • Participate in test execution cycles including regression and functional testing.
  • Ensure adherence to data integrity documentation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting of basic biological instrument or software-related issues with guidance.
  • Contribute to team knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Immunology Cell Biology Biotechnology or related Life Sciences field.
  • 24 years of experience in laboratory environments (academic or industry).
  • Basic hands-on exposure to:
    • Cell culture techniques
    • Flow cytometry or immunoassays (academic exposure acceptable)
  • Foundational understanding of:
    • Flow cytometry principles
    • Biological data interpretation
  • Basic awareness of software testing concepts (STLC/SDLC is a plus).
  • Strong attention to detail with good documentation practices.
  • Good communication and willingness to learn in a cross-functional environment.
  • Interest in working at the intersection of biology and software validation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or project experience involving flow cytometry or microscopy workflows.
  • Exposure to test management or defect tracking tools (e.g. JIRA HPALM etc).
  • Familiarity with laboratory documentation practices (GLP/GMP exposure is a plus).
  • Interest in automation AI tools or digital solutions in testing environments.
