WHAT WE OFFER
Full-time Continuing Fredericton On-Campus
Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri 7:30 am - 4:00 pm 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $34.76 per hour
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to Director of Maintenance & Operations the Carpentry Foreperson is responsible for managing the daily operations of the carpentry shop.
- Plans assigns coordinates and supervises the work of tradespersons helpers and unskilled workers employed in the carpenter shop or on the job site.
- Will perform as a working supervisor using the tools of the trade.
- Is responsible for the adherence to all safety regulations in the shop or on the job site. This requires a thorough knowledge of local and provincial safety regulations.
- Inspects tools and equipment for defects or malfunctions and arranges for any repairs that are required.
- Estimates material and labour requirements for projects assigned; requisitions materials and maintains record of materials used.
- Performs various administrative functions as required.
- Provides instruction or training to apprentices or trades helpers.
- Replaces the Supervisor of Carpentry Trades during his/her absence.
- Performs other related duties as required.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A certificate of registration as a qualified Journeyperson Carpenter that is recognized by the N.B. Department of Labour.
- 5 years of experience at the Journeyperson level including supervisory experience
- Considerable knowledge of methods practices materials and equipment employed in the carpentry trade the hazards involved and safety precautions necessary in maintenance and repair work. Thorough knowledge of the Canadian Building Code. Thorough knowledge of the Canadian Labour Code and the New Brunswick Health and Safety Act.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Additional Strengths
- Familiarity with computers and computerized file systems.
