All food preparation is in accordance with Public Health standards Canada Food Guide Early Years Act (CCEYA) municipal and regional by-laws and Family Days Policies and procedures. The Cook is also responsible for lunch clean up and coordination of the child care centre Duties:Plan and prepare nutritional meals in accordance with theChild Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) in consultation with the Centre Supervisor. Prepare suitable menu substitutions for children with allergies and individual dietary requirementsEnsure adequate supplies are available to meet daily menu plan requirementsPurchase weekly groceries according to the menu plan in a cost effective mannerPrepare and serve daily lunches and snacks for children enrolled both at child care centre and associated satellite programsRegularly order food cleaning supplies and paper products each month in consultation with the centre supervisor to ensure the centre is stocked as requiredOperate and maintain kitchen according to Public Health inspection requirementsAbility to incorporate light housekeeping duties in daily routinesEducation and Experience RequiredCertificate or Diploma in Food Handling and PreparationPrior experience preparing meals in a business or institutional setting will be an assetUnderstanding and working knowledge of current Public Health Guidelines and Canadian Food Guide Experience in cooking for large groups Excellent communication and written skillsAbility to work productivity in a team environment Social and multicultural sensitivityMust have a valid drivers license and a required including TB (two stages) 6 months current to hiring datePolice Vulnerable Sector Check 6 months current to hiring dateCurrent Standard First Aid and CPR level C Able to work Monday to FridayDiversity and Inclusion:Family Day fosters a positive inclusive workplace culture with a workforce that is representative of the families and communities it serves.
