BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The Early Warning and Forecasting Unit in collaboration with Google Research and funded by is developing an early warning tool to detect impending food crises with initial pilots in high-priority countries. This project harnesses Googles expertise in artificial intelligence and product innovation alongside WFPs operational insights and localized data. The objective is to generate early warning signals that facilitate proactive interventions integrating real-time data satellite imagery news data streams and Google analytics to enhance response capabilities and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of efforts to prevent food crises in vulnerable communities.
The Project and Partnership Officer will play a dual role combining project management responsibilities with partnership development and stakeholder engagement. The incumbent will ensure the seamless coordination execution and delivery of project activities while cultivating relationships with key stakeholders including donors and private sector partners to maximize the impact of WFPs efforts in the food security space.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Consultant will be responsible for the following activities:
Project Management
Develop and maintain a comprehensive project workplan ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
Monitor and report on project progress ensuring timely delivery of key milestones and deliverables.
Identify and mitigate risks resolve challenges and facilitate problem-solving for project activities.
Coordinate logistics and operational aspects of project activities including meetings workshops and missions.
Assist in budget preparation and financial monitoring ensuring accountability and adherence to financial procedures.
Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the primary liaison for Google Research WFP Country Offices Regional Bureaux and other stakeholders.
Build and maintain relationships with donors private sector entities and external partners to mobilize resources and foster collaboration.
Identify and pursue strategic partnership opportunities to support project scaling and sustainability.
Prepare compelling proposals reports and presentations tailored to stakeholder needs.
Communications and Reporting
Develop internal and external reports briefs and presentations to communicate project progress outcomes and learnings.
Drive the development and implementation of communication strategies to enhance visibility and stakeholder engagement.
Ensure timely submission of donor reports and compliance with partnership agreements.
Strategic Coordination and Resource Mobilization
Identify funding opportunities and develop value propositions for prospective donors.
Organize and lead donor engagement activities events and meetings.
Coordinate efforts across technical units to align project goals with WFPs strategic priorities.
Additional Responsibilities
Provide technical and operational support as needed to achieve project objectives.
Perform other tasks as required.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
Effective execution and management of project activities as per the agreed workplan.
Comprehensive project workplan outlining all tasks timelines and deliverables.
Regular progress reports documenting achievements challenges and solutions.
Development of high-quality proposals donor reports and stakeholder communication materials.
Strengthened and sustained partnerships contributing to resource mobilization.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
Bachelors degree in project management Business Administration
International Development Public Administration or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in project management and partnerships within international development.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and engage multiple stakeholders.
Experience in resource mobilization and donor relations.
Proven experience in drafting compelling proposals reports and presentations
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong partnership management skills including the ability to foster collaboration and align stakeholders.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. Asana Trello Microsoft Project).
Languages:
Excellent spoken and written English. French and Spanish are valuable assets.
