Whats the role
Youll help shape how Westpac understands and manages sustainability risks ensuring were well positioned to respond to changing expectations across climate social and nature-related issues. Working within our Line 2 risk function youll play a pivotal role in strengthening frameworks policies and practices that guide how ESG risks are identified and managed across the Group.
Youll partner closely with teams across the bank including Group Sustainability and divisional ESG teams providing trusted advice oversight and constructive challenge. From contributing to deep-dive reviews of emerging risk themes to helping lift ESG risk capability across the business your work will support better more informed decision-making.
This is a permanent full-time role ideally based Sydney (also open to Melbourne) with flexible working options available. What do I need
Youll succeed in this role by bringing sound judgement practical risk experience and a collaborative mindset. What will help you thrive includes:
- Experience managing or advising on sustainability or ESG-related risks in a large complex organisation.
- Exposure to topics such as climate risk human rights or modern slavery and nature or biodiversity risks.
- An understanding of Australian regulatory or disclosure expectations relevant to sustainability risks.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and credibly.
- Confidence building relationships and working across teams to influence positive outcomes.
