Chief Engineer
Job Summary
Reporting to the General Manager you responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage the engineering and maintenance function across the hotel
- Oversee all building systems including HVAC electrical fire life safety hydraulic and lift systems
- Plan and deliver preventative and reactive maintenance programs to ensure optimal asset performance
- Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements safety regulations and brand standards
- Manage contractors and service providers ensuring performance compliance and cost control
- Maintain accurate contractor records including SWMS permits and insurances
- Lead emergency response and business continuity procedures relating to engineering systems
- Prepare and manage CAPEX budgets and projects including planning execution and delivery
- Monitor energy usage and implement sustainability and efficiency initiatives
- Conduct regular audits and reporting to ensure operational and compliance standards are met
- Identify and implement initiatives to improve efficiency and asset lifecycle management
Qualifications :
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Chief Engineer Facilities Manager or similar role within a hotel or large complex building
- Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC electrical fire safety and hydraulic systems
- Trade qualification or relevant engineering degree (highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of health safety and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors budgets and capital projects
- A proactive solutions-focused leader with strong problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to respond to emergency maintenance requirements outside normal hours when required
