Chief Engineer

Reporting to the General Manager you responsibilities will include:

• Lead and manage the engineering and maintenance function across the hotel
• Oversee all building systems including HVAC electrical fire life safety hydraulic and lift systems
• Plan and deliver preventative and reactive maintenance programs to ensure optimal asset performance
• Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements safety regulations and brand standards
• Manage contractors and service providers ensuring performance compliance and cost control
• Maintain accurate contractor records including SWMS permits and insurances
• Lead emergency response and business continuity procedures relating to engineering systems
• Prepare and manage CAPEX budgets and projects including planning execution and delivery
• Monitor energy usage and implement sustainability and efficiency initiatives
• Conduct regular audits and reporting to ensure operational and compliance standards are met
• Identify and implement initiatives to improve efficiency and asset lifecycle management

Qualifications :

• Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Chief Engineer Facilities Manager or similar role within a hotel or large complex building
• Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC electrical fire safety and hydraulic systems
• Trade qualification or relevant engineering degree (highly regarded)
• Strong understanding of health safety and compliance requirements
• Demonstrated experience managing contractors budgets and capital projects
• A proactive solutions-focused leader with strong problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to respond to emergency maintenance requirements outside normal hours when required
