The Role
We have opportunities available for Disability Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living homes in Southwest Sydney.
Our Support Independent Living homes are new modern houses providing supported accommodation within a vibrant community for people with a disability. Our flexible and responsive support services cater to evolving needs empowering residents to lead fulfilling independent lives.
Some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):
- Extensive experience supporting people with a dual diagnosis
- Strong organisational skills and a collaborative team based approach
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders (internal and external)
- Emotional intelligence resilience and drive with the capability of working in isolation
- An open and creative mindset to the position - new and innovative ideas are a must
Please Note:
Supported Independent Living support worker roles work on a 7 day roster that will include weekend evening and overnight shifts.
To be successfulyou need:
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- Current NSW Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- Current NSW Drivers Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- National Police Check
Our ideal candidate will have
- Experience working within a disability/supported accommodation environment
- Demonstrated experience in implementing person centred approaches and models of service.
- Ability to work with people with a disability including those needing support around challenging behaviours and personal care.
- Proven communication skills both verbal and written including an ability to communicate with participants and families from a range of cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated commitment to team work and development.
- Understanding of WHS requirements and commitment to promote within the workplace.
- Understanding of NDIS and Quality & Safeguarding framework.
- Ability to identify and understand the challenges faced by people with a disability from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Desirable: Experience providing supportive care to residents facing mental health challenges is highly valued.
