About the role

As a Welder/Fabrication Tradesperson you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing vital water infrastructure across the Geraldton region and beyond. This is a handson fieldbased position suited to a tradequalified welder who enjoys variety and autonomy. Rather than being tied to a workshop youll travel throughout Geraldton Murchison District working on steel water mains. Your work will involve a mix of field welding primarily using Flux Core and workshopbased MIG welding as required along with pipe repairs leak response and preventative maintenance.

Operating from an MR truck fitted with a welder and alongside a Fire Spotter/TA your office could range from coastal locations to open farmland or remote country offering a different view and challenge each day. The role encourages teamwork problemsolving and selfmanagement with strong support from a flexible and trusted Hiring Manager. What you can expect with this role

  • Carrying out predominantly fieldbased welding and fabrication work repairing and maintaining steel water mains across the Geraldton region.
  • Performing Flux Core welding in the field and MIG welding in the workshop as required
  • Completing pipe repairs leak rectifications and preventative maintenance on critical water infrastructure.
  • Operating from an MR truck fitted with a welder working in partnership with a Fire Spotter/TA to deliver safe and efficient outcomes
  • Travelling to varied work locations including coastal areas farmland and remote sites offering variety autonomy and a different work environment each day
  • Collaborating with regional teams and contractors contributing to a trusted selfmanaged team culture with a strong focus on safety and quality outcomes

Your skills and experience

For this role we are looking for great talent with:

  • Tradequalified Welder/Fabricator with a Certificate III in Engineering Heavy Fabrication (Boilermaker) and a strong understanding of welding processes
  • Holds a valid MR or HR drivers licence and relevant High Risk Work Licences
  • Confident working in a predominantly fieldbased environment adapting to varied locations and conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a team including partnering with Operators and other trades
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety with sound knowledge of WHS requirements and hazard identification
  • Wellorganised reliable and proactive with the ability to plan work solve problems and deliver quality outcomes
