Accounting Associate

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to support daily accounting operations for a local credit union near the downtown area. This role is responsible for processing transaction settlements reconciling general ledger accounts and assisting with accounts payable and receivable functions. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills maintains accuracy under deadlines and demonstrates a solid understanding of accounting principles. Schedule is Monday- Friday from 8:30am- 5:30pm and pay rate can go up to 24 hourly DOE.
Key Responsibilities:
Balance daily credit union transactions including branches vaults and member activity and post to the general ledger
Reconcile assigned general ledger and bank accounts within established timeframes
Process accounts payable and receivable including invoice entry posting and vendor payments
Assist with month-end closing entries and related accounting tasks
Prepare annual tax filings
Ensure compliance with internal policies procedures and applicable federal regulations
Provide backup support to other accounting and operational roles as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned

Accurately and timely complete daily transaction balancing and settlements
Process accounts payable receivable and general ledger entries with precision
Meet established deadlines consistently
Apply sound independent judgment in accordance with company policies and GAAP
Maintain proficiency in internal systems and third-party applications
Deliver efficient accurate and courteous service to members
Communicate effectively and collaborate with team members across all levels
Maintain up-to-date procedures and documentation for assigned responsibilities
Demonstrate professionalism integrity and a strong work ethic
Participate in ongoing learning and development opportunities
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field OR equivalent combination of education certification or relevant experience
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
Financial institution experience preferred
Skills
Proficiency with 10-key by touch
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent organizational interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and general computer applications
Ability to manage workflow efficiently and exercise sound judgment
Additional Requirements
Must be bondable
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism
Willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed
