Job Duties
The Director of Technology Infrastructure and Operations oversees the operation of the Information Technology department and to ensure it aligns with the business objectives of Virginia State University.
The Director of Technology Infrastructure and Operations provides Data Center and Infrastructure Leadership for stable and efficient technology services resources and infrastructure to support university academic and research operations.
Job Duties:
- Directs the operational and strategic planning of the Data center and Network Infrastructure services.
- Manages the security aspects of the Data center and Network Infrastructure.
- Works with project manager to develop work plans resource planning budgeting execution and management of ongoing and future projects.
- Manages IT outsourcing contracts and staffing including recruitment supervision scheduling development evaluation and disciplinary actions.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM RQUIREMENTS:
Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development project management and policy development.
Technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems hardware protocols and standards.
Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through day-to-day management.
Knowledge of business theory business processes management budgeting and business office operations.
Demonstrated ability in leveraging IT to solve business problems.
Advanced knowledge of contract negotiation and vendor management.
In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
Strong understanding of human resource management principles practices and procedures.
Demonstrated experience working with a range of technical staff to develop joint solutions.
Highly self-motivated self-directed and attentive to detail.
Strong leadership coaching and mentoring skills.
Excellent oral written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
Additional Considerations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
10 years of relevant technology and service delivery management experience.
