About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with extensive experience in modernizing enterprise data warehouses migrating large scale ecosystems across on prem and cloud platforms and building robust batch and data orchestration pipelines. This individual will play a key role in transforming our legacy data environments into a scalable cloud native architecture on Snowflake with other cloud and on-prem source systems.

The ideal candidate has hands on expertise designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines orchestrating workflows using Control M and driving complex migrations-particularly from Netezza to Snowflake. Experience within the retail domain is a strong plus including building diverse teams with collaborative and innovative cultures with deep familiarity in data engineering and analytics delivering analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Data Platform Modernization & Migration

• Lead end to end modernization initiatives for enterprise data warehouse environments.
• Design and execute large scale data migrations including the transition from Netezza to Snowflake.
• Develop scalable ELT frameworks optimized for cloud performance and cost efficiency.
• Identify and remediate data quality lineage and performance issues during migration.

Pipeline Engineering & Orchestration

• Build complex high performance data pipelines using modern ETL/ELT technologies.
• Design schedule and maintain enterprise grade workflows using Control M ensuring reliability and SLAs across data processing cycles.
• Automate workflows and implement CI/CD for data engineering processes.

Cloud Engineering

• Architect and optimize data solutions on Snowflake leveraging features such as virtual warehouses streams tasks time travel and secure data sharing.
• Collaborate with cloud engineering teams to ensure optimal resource utilization security and governance.

Data Architecture & Governance

• Partner with architects and business stakeholders to define data models schemas and integration patterns.
• Ensure data solutions align with compliance security and governance standards.
• Implement robust documentation versioning and operational playbooks.

Cross Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with product analytics and business teams-particularly within retail functions-to understand data needs and develop scalable solutions.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices across the data engineering discipline.
• Thorough knowledge of data validation strategies between source and target systems.

Required Qualifications

• 10 years of hands on data engineering experience in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience leading data warehouse modernization and migration initiatives.
• Strong expertise with Netezza and Snowflake including performance tuning and workload optimization.
• Deep experience designing and orchestrating workflows in Control M.
• Advanced proficiency in Shell SQL Python ADLS Power BI and ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling (3NF dimensional modeling data vault).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS Azure or GCP with a focus on data services.
• Understanding of CI/CD Git based development and DevOps for data pipelines.
• Experience implementing data governance data lineage control-m lineage and observability frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Retail industry expertise-merchandising supply chain sales inventory or customer analytics.
• Strong communication and leadership skills especially in stakeholder facing roles.
