Thread/Form Roll Operator
Pay: $28-$35/hr (DOE)
Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm (M-F)
Position Summary:
Level III Thread/Form Roll Operators work without supervision to set up operate and adjust thread/form roll machines to produce all required product types including complex rivet components. Level III operators also demonstrate intermediate trouble shooting abilities and perform setups for others as well as mentor lower-level employees while providing communication between production and engineering. They will also demonstrate intermediate knowledge of thread/form roll tooling configurations and functions including form packages and complex feeding systems.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
- Identify parts to the shop traveler ensuring that all prior operations have been completed.
- Set up operate or tend machines to roll steel forming bends beads knurls rolls or plate or to flatten temper or reduce gauge of material according to shop traveler specifications and operation procedures.
- Adjust machine controls and change tool settings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
- Crank machines through cycles stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controls to ensure specified timing clearances and tolerances.
- Inspect sample work pieces to verify conformance with specifications using instruments such as gauges micrometers and dial indicators.
- Follow standard operating procedures to check test login logout and thread roll good quality parts coordinating with departments supervisor or lead during the process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- The ability to read and write English.
- Introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.
- A basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use.
- A basic knowledge of machine tools.
- The ability to interpret written instructions on shop travelers.
- Capable of setting up and running parts as required.
- Some knowledge of comparator and induction heater preferred but not required.
