Athena Health Care is seeking an experienced Nurse Leader to oversee multiple teams within Surgical Services. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence leading high-performing teams and ensuring the delivery of safe high-quality patient-centered care.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience strategic thinking and a proven ability to manage complex clinical operations while fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight to managers and frontline clinical staff across multiple teams
Develop and execute long-term strategic plans aligned with organizational goals
Communicate priorities monitor performance and implement course corrections as needed
Analyze operational and clinical data to drive improvements in performance and outcomes
Establish and manage departmental budgets ensuring financial accountability
Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve processes and organizational effectiveness
Facilitate unit and organization-wide meetings
Address patient family physician and staff concerns including grievance resolution
Promote strong relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
Oversee performance improvement initiatives and regulatory readiness efforts
Develop review and update policies and procedures
Coach and mentor leadership staff on performance management resource utilization and change initiatives
Support staff education professional development and evidence-based practice initiatives
Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports
Qualifications
Required:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) License State of Texas
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Minimum 5 years of nursing leadership/management experience
Minimum 2 years of surgical nursing experience
Strong communication skills (verbal and written in English)
Basic computer proficiency
Preferred:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Experience leading multi-unit or complex healthcare operations
Additional language proficiency
