Surgical Services Nursing

Full-Time Leadership Role

Athena Health Care is seeking an experienced Nurse Leader to oversee multiple teams within Surgical Services. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence leading high-performing teams and ensuring the delivery of safe high-quality patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience strategic thinking and a proven ability to manage complex clinical operations while fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.

• Provide leadership and oversight to managers and frontline clinical staff across multiple teams
• Develop and execute long-term strategic plans aligned with organizational goals
• Communicate priorities monitor performance and implement course corrections as needed
• Analyze operational and clinical data to drive improvements in performance and outcomes
• Establish and manage departmental budgets ensuring financial accountability
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve processes and organizational effectiveness
• Facilitate unit and organization-wide meetings
• Address patient family physician and staff concerns including grievance resolution
• Promote strong relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
• Oversee performance improvement initiatives and regulatory readiness efforts
• Develop review and update policies and procedures
• Coach and mentor leadership staff on performance management resource utilization and change initiatives
• Support staff education professional development and evidence-based practice initiatives
• Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports

Required:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License State of Texas
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Minimum 5 years of nursing leadership/management experience
• Minimum 2 years of surgical nursing experience
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written in English)
• Basic computer proficiency

Preferred:

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
• Experience leading multi-unit or complex healthcare operations
• Additional language proficiency

• Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities

• Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization
