Athena Health Care is seeking an experienced and results-driven Imaging Manager Radiology to lead a large multidisciplinary diagnostic imaging department. This leadership role oversees clinical operational and financial performance across multiple imaging modalities in a high-volume acute care setting.
The Imaging Manager will be responsible for driving operational excellence ensuring high-quality patient care and leading a diverse team of imaging professionals in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Department Scope
Oversight of multimodality imaging services including CT MRI Nuclear Medicine Ultrasound Mammography X-ray and potentially Interventional Radiology
Leadership of a team of 35 staff members with direct responsibility for the majority of employees
Practice setting: Level III Medical Office Building / Acute Care Environment
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
Oversee day-to-day imaging operations ensuring efficiency quality and patient access
Manage department workflows including scheduling throughput and volume optimization
Monitor and resolve operational issues such as unsigned studies PACS exceptions and uncompleted exams
Partner with internal departments (Ambulatory Pediatrics Orthopedics Pain Clinic and others) to improve processes and patient experience
Financial & Resource Management
Develop and manage FTE and non-payroll expense (NPE) budgets
Oversee supply chain processes capital planning and resource allocation
Analyze volume trends and access reports to inform staffing and operational decisions
Prepare and present business and capital cases to senior leadership
People Leadership
Lead coach and develop a team of imaging professionals and supervisors
Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development planning
Manage employee relations including hiring performance management and compliance with HR processes
Foster a collaborative accountable and high-performing team culture
Equipment & Technology Oversight
Manage imaging equipment lifecycle including maintenance and failure response
Ensure proper documentation and communication of equipment issues impacting patient care
Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to optimize PACS and imaging systems
QualificationsRequired:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist Sonographer Mammographer or Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Minimum 3 years of radiology supervisory experience including:
Direct staff management
Performance evaluations
Hiring and termination responsibilities
Nuclear Medicine experience (required)
Experience managing large teams (30 employees) across multiple imaging modalities
Strong operational and leadership experience in an acute care setting
Education:
Graduate of an accredited diagnostic imaging program OR
Bachelors degree in a related field OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience
High School Diploma or GED required
Licensure & Certifications:
One of the following active certifications:
Washington Nuclear Medicine Technologist License OR
ARRT (Radiologic Technologist) Certification OR
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) OR
Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in budgeting and financial management
Background in Lean Six Sigma or process improvement methodologies
