Role Overview
Team & Context: The role is on the Languages team within video focusing on the Creator aspect of the Auto Dubbing product. The team works on product features that translate English content into 35 languages and dubs the audio track.
Assignment & Duration: This is an employee coverage role for a person on leave. The end date is set for September 20th.
Location & Schedule: New York hybrid model. The hiring manager is in the office Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday.
Job Responsibilities
- The designer will focus on execution and tactical work related to the evolution of the Auto Dub product primarily defining and designing a transcript editing experience.
- Design & Development: Define a roadmap and design milestones alongside PM and engineering partners for a new transcript editing experience. Design a text editing capability that works alongside a linear video format. The tool can range from a simple Google Doc-style editor with advanced features to a completely new concept.
- Leadership & Communication: Create high-quality polished prototypes and motion for presentations to senior leadership (L7/8/9 level) to help expedite design approval and concept understanding.
- Manage the end-to-end workflow: designing flows in Figma transferring them to slides telling the design story and documenting the work for execution/product partners.
- Research Collaboration: Develop the content materials and prototypes needed for UX research to be conducted by the projects UX researchers.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Experience Level: At least a few years of relevant experience roughly three to seven years suggesting a candidate on their second or third career opportunity. The level is comfortable for L4 or L5 candidates.
- Core Skills: Systematic Thinking Extreme Detail Orientation.
- Design and Flow Mastery: History of thinking in design systems and clearly understanding user flows.
- Prototyping & Motion: Must have strong proficiency in prototyping and motion with advanced capabilities in tools like Figma or Principle and possibly Framer or Origami. This is essential for communicating flows to leadership.
- Documentation: Ability to produce extremely crisp and clear documentation of iterations and execution details is critical for complicated journeys and flows.
- Web UI Focus: Experience designing for web UI (editor capabilities timeline editing text annotating) not mobile-centric or socially driven applications.
Nice to Have Qualifications
- Accessibility/Captioning Experience: Experience in the accessibility space particularly with A11y captions or subtitles as the captions product is a core use case for the hard of hearing community
- Video Editing Experience: Any experience or history in video editing capabilities especially with linear editing formats or timeline-related editing. Relevant industry background could include companies or tools like Vimeo Final Cut Pro Descript (transcription editing) 11 Labs or Riverside.
- AI/Conversational UI: Any experience with AI capabilities text editing conversational AI or agentic type of work as this is an exploratory part of the product roadmap. Experience designing NLP-driven conversational UX or AI-assisted workflows would be helpful but it is not a top priority.
- UX Research Collaboration: Experience working with UX research including concept generation and material development for research sessions.
- Technical Understanding: No required technical understanding of platform API limitations CSS structure or other front-end basics is necessary.
