Position Overview
Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) is seeking dedicated Substitute Teachers to ensure the continuity of high-quality education in the absence of regular classroom this role you will implement lesson plans manage classrooms effectively and adapt instructional methods to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Substitute Teachers are pivotal in maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment fostering strong relationships with students and staff and supporting CPSs commitment to equity and excellence in urban education. This position requires collaboration with school personnel proactive engagement with families and ongoing professional development to uphold CPSs educational standards.
Responsibilities
Instructional Excellence
- Implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher to guide student learning and achieve curriculum goals.
- Adapt teaching methods to address the needs of students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
- Integrate technology and innovative instructional practices to enhance student engagement.
Classroom Management:
- Create and maintain a safe supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Supervise students consistently during the school day to ensure safety and adherence to school policies.
Professional Collaboration:
- Build professional collaborative relationships with students staff and families.
- Communicate effectively with students parents and school personnel utilizing CPS tools and guidelines.
- Collaborate with school staff to support a positive and effective instructional environment.
Urban District Commitment:
- Demonstrate cultural competency and a commitment to equity in serving a diverse urban student population.
- Engage with families and community partners to enhance student learning experiences.
Qualifications
- Minimum of an associate degree or 48 college semester credit hours; a bachelors degree preferred. CPS welcomes candidates who hold an Ohio Temporary Non-Bachelors Substitute License (valid through the 2024-25 school year).
- Experience working with and or leading children in diverse multi-ethnic settings is preferred.
- Experience working with or around K-12 children and or families
- Background Check: Current background checks must be on file. CPS offers walk-in hours for processing background checks ($50 exact cash/credit card).
- Licensure: A valid Ohio Substitute Teaching License is required. CPS supports candidates in obtaining the necessary licensure after the application and offer process.
