Description

The purpose of this role is to support the ongoing growth of the Student Leadership Development program at Charlotte Latin School. As the Department continues to expand its curricular and co-curricular offerings this role will enable the department to continue providing high-quality experiences that support the overall aims of the Latin Leads strategic plan and build capacity to integrate leadership development (and the Portrait of the Latin Leader) into new spaces across campus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach coursework in Middle and/or Upper School (Expected 3 Classes or 75% teaching responsibilities to complement other department duties assigned). Courses may include Grade 10 Leadership and Social Responsibility Grade 7 and Grade 8 Leadership Lab.
  • Provide visionary strategic and tactical leadership for departmental programming such as Sunnys Day (Charlotte Latins community day) and other school-wide programs as idealized.
  • Flight Time Adviser (Middle or Upper School).
  • Partner with the Director of Leadership Development and other school personnel to create and implement additional curriculum and programming that aligns with the schools strategic priorities in leadership development.
  • Oversee and manage student-centered clubs organizations and experiences that promote leadership development (e.g. Student Athlete Advisory Council Hawks Lead).
  • Serve as a resource for faculty and students on team building group dynamics and leadership development initiatives.
  • Foster inter-school relationships to effectively advance leadership efforts with all school constituencies.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred
  • Background in Leadership Development and/or Community Engagement preferred
  • Classroom experience preferred

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage students faculty parents and community partners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Skilled in setting long-term goals and aligning programming with institutional priorities.
  • Experience coordinating large-scale events and initiatives (e.g. community days community-engaged learning experiences).
  • Strong teaching skills in Middle and/or Upper School settings with the ability to engage diverse learners.
  • Ability to measure program effectiveness and adjust curriculum accordingly.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic school environments with evolving priorities.

Working Conditions and Environment

  • Intermittently lift carry push and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuously see sit balance grasp and have repetitive use of arms wrists hands and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
  • Frequently talk and hear.
  • Intermittently stand stoop bend twist crouch kneel crawl walk climb stairs step stools and ladders operate foot and hand controls squeeze and reach above shoulders.
  • Exposure to dust chemicals fumes flammables grease dirt stacked materials electrical equipment machinery low to medium noise levels and moderate indoor heat and cold temperatures.
  • Long or odd hours as needed.
