We are seeking a Preconstruction Manager to support some of the most innovative complex and large-scale data center and mission-critical construction projectsin the country. This role will be instrumental in delivering RMCIs first-generation programs as a General Contractor within hyperscale and enterprise data center environments.

The Preconstruction Manager provides leadership structure and technical expertise across all preconstruction activities at RMCI. Working closely with the Chief Estimator this role ensures that project pursuits design development cost modeling and earlyphase planning are executed with accuracy clarity and strategic intent.

Responsibilities

  • Design Management & Technical Coordination
    • Manage design-phase communication between RMCI owners and design partners.
    • Lead constructability reviews design coordination meetings and technical evaluations.
    • Track design evolution and communicate cost schedule and risk impacts to the Chief Estimator.
    • Provide guidance on logistics phasing site constraints and feasibility during design development.
    • Support development of early schedules general conditions and procurement strategies.
  • Estimating Partnership & Cost Development
    • Align preconstruction strategy with estimating strategy to ensure consistent assumptions scope clarity and pricing logic.
    • Review plans specifications and addenda to identify scope gaps risks and opportunities coordinating with the Chief Estimator on pricing impacts.
    • Support subcontractor outreach prequalification and pricing strategy in collaboration with Estimating Team.
    • Participate in GMP development cost trending and buyout strategy discussions.
  • Documentation Communication & Workflow Management
    • Oversee all preconstruction documentation ensuring accuracy and timely distribution.
    • Review and approve meeting minutes action logs and document control outputs prepared by the Preconstruction Coordinator.
    • Maintain alignment between preconstruction deliverables estimating outputs and project handoff requirements.
  • Leadership Department Oversight and Internal Collaboration
    • Lead RMCIs preconstruction efforts with strategic guidance from the VP of Preconstruction.
    • Provide mentorship direction and workflow oversight to the Preconstruction Coordinator.
    • Lead turnover meetings ensuring assumptions risks and cost models are clearly communicated.
    • Develop and refine RMCIs preconstruction standards templates processes and best practices as the department grows.
    • Foster strong collaboration across Estimating Project Delivery Operations Marketing and Business Development.
  • Client Partner & Trade Partner Engagement
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners designers subcontractors and vendors.
    • Lead or support client-facing cost reviews design meetings and pursuit presentations.
    • Represent RMCI professionally at industry events meetandgreets and preconstruction meetings.

Qualifications

  • 510 years of experience in preconstruction estimating or design management within industrial construction or mission critical facilities.
  • Strong understanding of estimating principles design development and alternative delivery methods (CMAR DesignBuild DesignAssist).
  • Skilled in conceptual estimating cost modeling and reviewing plans/specifications for scope gaps and risks.
  • Strong communication and clientfacing presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam Building Connected and estimating software preferred.
  • Highly organized detailoriented and able to manage multiple pursuits in a fastpaced environment.
  • Experience mentoring or overseeing junior team members.

Education & Certifications

  • Required
    • Bachelors degree in Construction Management Engineering Architecture Business or related field
    • Minimum of five years of experience in preconstruction and estimating roles
  • Preferred
    • Advanced coursework or certifications in estimating preconstruction project management or construction technology.
    • Experience in general contracting industrial construction and mission critical facilities.
    • Training or proficiency in estimating software (Sage OST Assemble etc.).
