Athletic Trainer School

Job Summary

Prevent assess and treat emergency acute and chronic athletic injuries and recondition athletes after injury to prevent injury recurrence impairment functional limitations and disabilities. Assess develop exercise program and provide training for athletes in the high school and middle school setting.

Job Responsibilities

• Deliver athletic medical care in a positive caring and empathetic manner while working to assure the athletes health safety and well-being is the primary objective.
• Provide preventative services emergency care first aid techniques triage clinical assessments therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and medical conditions.
• Monitor athletic events and team practices.
• Advise athletes on the proper use of protective equipment and apply protective or injury preventive devices including tape bandages or braces.
• Assess athletes injuries through medical history observation and appropriate tests. Interpret assessment information and analyze data to formulate an appropriate treatment plan or to make necessary physician referrals.
• Communicate assessment results to athlete parent or guardian coach and team or family physician.
• Maintain appropriate records and documentation of injury assessments treatments rehabilitation follow-up care and progress of an athletes injuries and medical conditions.
• Appropriate use of medical equipment and therapeutic modalities including ice moist heat ultrasound electrical stimulation joint mobilization etc. safely and effectively in carrying out planned interventions.
• Comply with all applicable policies and procedures including but not limited to all departmental and functional policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of personal protected information.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

• Minimum: Bachelor of Athletic Training

Experience Requirements

• Minimum: One (1) or more years experience in Athletic Training
• Preferred: Three (3) or more years experience in Athletic Training

License/Certification Requirements

• Licensed as an Athletic Trainer with the state of Indiana
• Board of Certification (BOC) Inc. Athletic Trainer Certification
• Basic Life Safety certification
