Position Overview:
The primary focus of a Instructor/Teacher Assistant STEAM Childrens Enrichment will be to maintain the Discovery Center activities. Instructor/Teacher Assistant STEAM Childrens Enrichment are asked to promote creativity teamwork and problem-solving skills of students by supporting the Instructor in the classroom. Programs are conducted for children ages 2-14 although not all assistant instructors are required to work with all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology Instructors & leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism. We are a mobile business that operates in schools libraries homes etc. throughout Nassau County Long Island and our new location in the Samanea Mall Westbury. Most of our shifts start at 3 PM after School Preschool earlier.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Greet parents and children
- Monitor children in the use of learning materials and equipment
- Aid in Management of student behavior
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology
- Organize Snapology program materials
- Complete special assignments as indicated by Snapology leadership
- Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs
- Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs
- Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings as required
Qualifications:
- Criminal and Child Clearances must be current
- Desire to work with children
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
Programs:
- Weekday after-school and/or evening classes
- Weekend workshops and/or birthday parties
- Summer camps
- Special events holiday and break workshops
This position is part-time. Depending on candidate availability and the time of year Instructor/Teacher Assistant STEAM Childrens Enrichment typically work between 4-10 hours per week.
Compensation: $25.00 per hour
