Position Summary:

The School of Health Sciences at Columbia College invites applications for a full-timetenure-trackAssistant Professor of Biologyposition beginning in August 2026 with a strong teaching focus in cell and molecular biology and related biomedical disciplines.

The Biology program is housed in the School of Health Sciences. Other programs in thisschoolincludeChemistryExerciseSciencePublicHealthandSpeechLanguagePathology. School faculty are committed to collaborative undergraduate research and have been successful in obtaining outside funding to support these efforts.

This position is a nine-month full-time tenure-track appointment. The standard teaching load is twelve credit hours for each of the fall and spring semesters. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats including online and hybrid modalities and is expected to teach core courses and specialized courses in cellular molecular genetic microbiological and biomedical sciences.

Courses may include but are not limitedto:

  • Introductory Biology and LifeScience
  • Human Biology and MedicalTerminology
  • MicrobiologyandParasitology
  • Molecular Cell biology Genetics Biochemistry Immunology andHistology
  • Human Anatomy&Physiology
  • Specializedelectives
  • Additional courses as needed to support programmaticneeds.

The candidate is expected to have flexibility in class scheduling to meet the needs of theCollege. Faculty members are expected to participate in faculty governance and academic program activities and to engage in service as well as scholarship and professionaldevelopment.
