POSITION SUMMARY

ROWE is currently looking for a GIS intern to join our team. You will be based out of either our Flint office or our Farmington Hills office. The GIS Intern will work under the supervision of a Senior Planner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist with creating maps using ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Online to support planning projects such as master plans zoning updates corridor studies and development reviews.
• Prepare thematic maps (e.g. land use zoning future land use environmental features utilities demographics).
• Update and maintain GIS datasets including parcel data zoning layers and aerial imagery.
• Perform basic spatial analysis (buffering overlays proximity analysis) under the direction of planning staff.
• Compile clean and organize spatial and tabular data from local county state and federal sources.
• Assist with data analysis related to population housing land use transportation or environmental conditions.
• Help prepare charts tables and graphics to accompany GIS mapping and planning reports.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

We are seeking forward-thinking safety-conscious and energetic individuals who are excited to work on both small-scale and large-scale projects. Qualifications include:

• Pursuit of a bachelorsdegree in GIS Geography Engineering Urban and Regional Planning or an equivalent field of study.
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
• Familiarity with GIS concepts including coordinate systems projections geodatabases and spatial analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail excellent analytical/judgement capabilities.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to work remote and in person effectively.
