Childbirth Educator, PRN

Childbirth Educator Job Responsibilities:

The Childbirth Educator informs and empowers new and expectant parents through evidence-based perinatal health education. Provides important information (according to their area of expertise) as families prepare for birth newborn care and/or breastfeeding. Provides excellent educational experience.

• Reviews class rosters and appropriately plans activities for class participants.
• Provides instruction based on specified Inova Well program curriculum. Appropriately utilizes education materials and audio/visual learning aids to enhance program effectiveness. Responds accurately and appropriately to participant questions and issues.
• Demonstrates ability to apply research and standards as issues emerge during learning situations.
• Gathers and communicates participant and site contact feedback to the program manager. Obtains and returns necessary supplies equipment in a timely manner. Completes and delivers all paperwork in a timely manner.
• Travel required to Inova hospitals to provide support including the Inova Loudoun Hospital and the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:Associates degree
• Certification: Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (ICEA CAPPA and other Childbirth Education Certifications also Registered Nurse no need for these certifications). BLS from AHA required within 3 months of hire.
• Licensure: If ADN or BSN licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
