Job Summary: The Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications managing inventory and providing excellent customer service. This role ensures accuracy safety and compliance with healthcare regulations while assisting in the daily operations of the pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and dispense prescription medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
Accurately enter prescription and patient information into pharmacy systems
Process insurance claims and handle billing inquiries
Manage inventory including ordering stocking and checking for expired medications
Maintain proper storage and security of medications
Assist customers with prescription pick-up and general inquiries
Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws regulations and safety standards
Maintain a clean organized and efficient work environment
Support pharmacists with administrative and operational tasks as needed
Qualifications:
Completion of a Pharmacy Technician program (preferred)
Active registration or certification as required by local/provincial regulations
Previous pharmacy or healthcare experience is an asset
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
Basic computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy software
Work Environment:
Retail pharmacy hospital or clinical setting
Standing for extended periods and occasional lifting may be required
May require evening weekend or holiday shifts
