Job Summary
The Hardware Technician II is an intermediate-level position responsible for the disassembly repair overhaul modification alignment assembly and diagnostic evaluation of mechanical systems and trainer devices.
Essential Job Functions
- Independently performs operational diagnostics of complete trainer systems analyzes results and conducts disassembly repair overhaul modification system integration synchronization and final inspection to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Disassembles and inventories mechanical components and systems.
- Uses engineering drawings schematics and technical directives to fabricate subsystems or units as required.
- Assembles subsystems or units into complete systems ensuring proper alignment and synchronization for operational functionality.
- Troubleshoots complete systems or individual units analyzes issues and performs corrective actions to meet specifications.
- Utilizes hand tools calibrated instruments and power tools such as torque wrenches micrometers calipers gauges and fixtures.
- Removes and installs components to facilitate mechanical structural or surface repairs.
- Reworks components such as hydraulic/pneumatic actuators valve assemblies and pumps by replacing defective parts or installing modification kits.
- Inspects and tests components assemblies and systems for fit alignment performance and compliance using measuring instruments and test equipment.
- Adjusts repairs or replaces parts and assemblies to ensure proper system functionality.
- Aligns and positions subassemblies using measuring tools and blueprint references.
- Assembles prefabricated parts into subassemblies.
- Cleans oils and prepares system components prior to assembly.
- Joins structural assemblies such as wings tails or fuselage components.
- Determines repair requirements using applicable technical manuals (TMs).
- Safely handles equipment and materials.
- Works standard schedules with overtime and alternate schedules as required.
- Travels short-term to complete off-site work.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of aerodynamics for fixed or rotary wing aircraft or missiles.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic pneumatic and mechanical systems including actuators gearboxes engines and landing systems.
- Knowledge of calibrated tools and testing equipment.
- Working knowledge of materials such as metals plastics fabrics and lubricants as well as shop equipment and measuring devices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings schematics and technical documentation.
- Skilled in diagnosing and repairing integrated aircraft systems in simulated environments.
- Experience in system disassembly repair overhaul modification assembly and operational testing.
- Leadership ability to guide mentor and support lower-level technicians.
- Ability to inspect evaluate and ensure quality of completed work.
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex mechanical systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance when required.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience required.
- Experience with aircraft mechanical airframe/structural hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred.
