Speech-Language Pathologist at Estill Springs

JOB DESCRIPTION: Speech/Language Pathologist

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid Kentucky teaching certificate and/or Kentucky Licensure in the area of Speech and Language Pathology.

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Building Principal

JOB GOALS: To identify and evaluate children who may need special education to meet with appropriate committees and to assist in making appropriate educational recommendations. The Pathologist will serve with the psychologist the educational evaluator and other staff as support personnel to the special education addition the Pathologist will assist in placements and evaluations and provide assistance to regular teachers who have special education students in the regular program. The Pathologist will provide the necessary services to identified students. To support the Mission Statement of the Estill County School System.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Attends work daily being in prompt attendance and remains on duty as specified by the Superintendent or the Superintendents designee.
2. Administers appropriate battery of speech/language assessments within mandated timelines.
3. Writes and distributes reports for the test administered to appropriate staff and parents within mandated timelines.
4. Attends ARC meetings when appropriate for which evaluations have been completed and discusses test results participates in committee decisions and assists in completing required documentation.
5. Completes on-going monitoring of student goals by documenting progress using district approved speech therapy logs.
6. Assists regular and special education teachers in identifying appropriate materials and techniques for specific students.
7. Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.
8. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education and/or principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days and salary pursuant to district salary schedules.
