Senior or Staff Data Platform Engineer

Overview

We are standing up a new data platform organization from the ground up. The mission is to bring together fragmented data systems across multiple vertical entities into a unified governed AI-ready platform. This team will define the technical foundation that powers the organizations data ecosystem from core data infrastructure through the enablement of future AI-native workflows and applications.

As a Senior/Staff Data Platform Engineer you will play a critical role in designing and building foundational platform capabilities. This role is for someone who can operate with autonomy move quickly and make thoughtful technical decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term scale.

What Youll Do

• Design and build scalable platform services for data ingestion storage transformation and access
• Create reusable systems and frameworks that support multiple teams and business units
• Contribute to data governance lineage consistency and platform standards
• Help establish best practices around data modeling architecture and platform reliability
• Work closely with solutions engineers AI engineers and leadership to ensure the platform supports downstream workflows and applications
• Evaluate and introduce new tools where appropriate while maintaining a long-term architectural lens
• Mentor less experienced engineers and help raise the bar for platform engineering across the team

What Were Looking For

• 5 years of experience in data engineering platform engineering or backend infrastructure
• Strong hands-on experience with Python Java or similar languages
• Experience with platforms such as Snowflake Databricks or related data ecosystems
• Strong understanding of data modeling governance storage design and scalable system architecture
• Experience building shared internal platforms frameworks or infrastructure used by multiple teams
• Ability to operate with high ownership in ambiguous fast-moving environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
