Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: In addition to the duties listed in Senior Cardiac Sonographer collaborates with/or acts as Technical Director. Works with Medical Director for review annually or as necessary for revision of all clinical policies and procedures specific to Echocardiography. Ensures all ICAEL requirements are met and maintained. Staff information CMEs policies and procedures protocols etc. are updated annually to meet ICAEL requirements. Staff is updated on all ICAEL changes. Organizes and prepares ICAEL application to maintain an accredited status. Lead sonographer will assist with evaluations of existing staff and assist with hiring and onboarding of new sonographers. Participates in clinical education for students residents and/or fellows specifically related to physics and image acquisition. Provides technical assistance in research studies on new echocardiography techniques and technology initiated by Emory other hospitals and vendors through attending meetings and learning new techniques on acquiring images. Assists Echocardiography Technical Director with quality measures and outcome data to ensure a high-level echocardiography lab. . In some OUÂs may be responsible for performing and training others on research echocardiograms. Coordinates with research team in regards to trial protocols and patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of five years experience (within specialty modality) in which they are seeking. Graduate of an accredited school of ultrasound technology vascular technology or cardiovascular program; Bachelor of Science degree preferred. Current registry certificate from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with RDCS certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) with RCS certification. Five years of echocardiography clinical experience. One year of supervisory experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking Occasional sitting Close eye work (computers typing reading writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock Floor Surfaces Hot/Cold Temperatures Indoor/Outdoor conditions Latex Lighting Patient care/handling injuries Radiation Shift work Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment including respirators environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
