Due to upcoming expansion and restructuring of both Maryville High School and Maryville Junior High Schoolalong with Montgomery Ridge and Coulter Grove Intermediate Schools Maryville City Schools is currently seeking to fill three full-time Special Education Teacher positions. These positions will serve one of three schools during the 2026-2027 school year and then transition to serve either Maryville High School or Maryville Junior High School in the 2027-2028 school year. MHS will become a comprehensive 9-12 high school while MJHS will serve grades 7-8with our intermediate schools serving students in grades 4-6.

Purpose Statement
The position of Teacher (Special Education) was established for the purpose of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing special education students success in academics interpersonal skills and activities of daily living; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group an individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines: collaborating with other teachers other professional staff and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
Essential Functions
Serve as a case manager support/guide students develop IEPs and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
Implement and deliver resource instruction in Math and ELA as well intervention through Academic Success
Serve as a co-teacher in Science and Math classes providing instruction and re-teaching to students
Plan with co-teachers toensureconsistent strong classroom instruction and supports
Serve as a team member indeterminingand implementing student accommodations referral eligibility
placement and individual education program development
Comply withlocal state and federal regulationsregardingspecial education records reports and services
Assess students needs and develop an individualized education program for studentswithdisabilities
Analyze student data on a consistent basis to meet the individual needs of students and deliverappropriate instruction
Past positive experience in leading and/orparticipatingin a professional learning community structure focused on increasing student learning and achievement
Highlymotivated teacher with the ability to cognitively engage the teenage learner andfacilitatethe instructional process higher order thinking problem solving real- world connections for students
Be an active member of the faculty and staff
Other Functions
Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
Directs assistant teachers student teachers instructional assistants volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The position generally requires 15% sitting 20% walking and 65% standing. This position is typically performed in a hazard free clean and healthy environment.
Ability to perform any physical duties associated with this position (e.g. lifting up to 50 pounds on
a regular basis sitting for long periods of time walking seeing standing for extended periods of
time etc.).
