Job Summary

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide leadership direction and support to campus principals to build their instructional and leadership capacity. Lead the development and implementation of systems that support school improvement professional growth for district leaders and increased student achievement. Direct and oversee the Districts K-12 Math program MTSS processes and instructional intervention systems to ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all campuses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Masters degree in educational administration
  • Texas mid-management or principal certificate
  • Certified instructional supervisor and appraiser in the Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System (T-PESS)
  • Certified instructional supervisor and appraiser in Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS)
  • Certification in Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) or Advancing Education Leadership (AEL).

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of curriculum instruction and state accountability systems
  • Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies (RBIS)
  • Deep knowledge of Texas accountability systems (STAAR A-F ratings)
  • Strong ability to analyze disaggregate and present complex student data
  • Knowledge of district state and federal testing procedures and security protocols
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and leadership effectiveness
  • Ability to interpret data and implement processes based on trends
  • Strong organizational communication public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of effective coaching models and adult learning principles

Experience:

  • 3 years successful experience as a classroom teacher preferred
  • 3 years of experience in instructional leadership roles (Principal experience preferred)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Leadership Development and Supervision:

  1. Coaches and supports administrators in goal setting planning development implementation and monitoring of action plans that will guide school leaders in meeting their instructional leadership objectives and for their schools to meet performance targets.
  2. Support principals in the implementation of school improvement plans.
  3. Plan and lead engaging Principal Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on instructional leadership data analysis and student outcomes.
  4. Design implement and lead a Principal/School Leadership Academy to develop aspiring teacher leaders and Assistant Principals for future leadership roles.
  5. Coordinate and deliver district-wide T-TESS and T-PESS professional development to ensure evaluative consistency.
  6. Visit schools on a regular basis to monitor day-to-day operations provide feedback and support the achievement of campus goals.

Accountability and Data Analysis:

  1. Serve as the districts lead for all state and local accountability systems and data reporting.
  2. Lead and facilitate comprehensive data digs with campus and district leadership analyzing STAAR TELPAS and other accountability data.
  3. Analyze and present data from district common assessments to guide instructional decisions and interventions.
  4. Use student data reports to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.

Assessment and Testing Coordination:

  1. Serve as the District Testing Coordinator managing the logistics security and administration of all state (STAAR TELPAS) and district-level assessments.
  2. Facilitate the district-wide testing windows including calendar creation material ordering and training of campus coordinators.
  3. Lead and facilitate the creation revision and implementation of district-wide common assessments in collaboration with curriculum staff.

School Improvement and Data Analysis:

  1. Analyze district and campus data (student achievement culture etc.) to identify trends guide instructional strategies and inform school improvement efforts.
  2. Monitor and interpret state accountability data to drive campus-level improvements.
  3. Serve as a support for campus principals to troubleshoot campus-level problems and collaboratively develop effective solutions.
  4. Support principals in the effective implementation and monitoring of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to ensure all students needs are met.

Administration and Communication:

  1. Implement policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education (SBOE) rule and the local board policy.
  2. Communicate effectively with colleagues principals and central office staff.
  3. Participate in the development and administration of the budget for math supplies equipment and grant-funded initiatives.
  4. Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with staff parents and community members.
  5. Monitor professional research and disseminate ideas and information to other professionals.
  6. Maintain confidentiality and perform other job duties as assigned.

Policy Reports and Law

  1. Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required.
  2. Comply with policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local board policy.
  3. Monitor current Senate Bills House Bills and State and Federal Laws related to all educational mandates.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy procedures and data; maintain emotional control under stress; and coordinate district leadership functions.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent district and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; frequent standing stooping bending lifting of heavy boxes etc.
