Summary of Job Duties:

The career coach will assess needs and provide direct career-related support to Adult Education participants. The career coach must earn a Career Service Provider certificate through the Office of Adult Education within one year of hire in order to maintain the position. This position is a grant-funded position through the Adult Education Section of the Division of Workforce Service.


Essential Functions
The career coach will support WAGE certificate completion activities of Adult Ed learners and
work with Adult Ed learners to determine appropriate assistance using activities such as the following:
Meeting one-on-one with students to determine academic and career goals.
Assigning career interest inventory activities for learners to determine career-related interests.
Providing information about local or area post-secondary opportunities or employment.
Improve participants resume writing and interviewing skills.
Assist students in understanding soft skills and how they are important to workplace success.

The career coach will also be responsible for
Maintaining and submitting complete and accurate records for use in generating monthly quarterly and annual reports.
Attendance and participation at local staff informational and professional meetings related to the Adult Education program as assigned by the program director.
Fostering relationships with local business workforce agencies and community partners to enhance the Adult Education program goals.
Distributing Adult Education promotional material to business and industry leaders for outreach.
Participate in job or career fairs as assigned in our program service areas.
Maintaining the confidentiality of client/student records and any other client-related personal information
Connecting Adult Education learners to local community resources to reduce barriers such as transportation childcare housing or counseling etc.


Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelors degree.

Minimum of one-year coaching experience or a combination of education training and experience which would lead to successful performance of the positions essential duties.

Strong communication skills including both written and oral with the ability to communicate with diverse ages and ethnicities of learners.

Basic digital literacy skills and ability to efficiently use technology to perform required tasks.
