ELL Teacher (K-12)

Job Summary
The ELL Teacher is responsible for teaching grammar and vocabulary and building bridges for students navigating a new language and a new culture. This position will work across grade levels K-12 to provide specialized English language instruction ensuring our multilingual learners have the tools to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Excellence: Design and deliver scaffolded lessons in reading writing speaking and listening that align with state English Language Proficiency (ELP) standards.
- Assessment & Placement: Administer initial language proficiency screenings and annual state-mandated assessments to track student progress and determine service eligibility.
- Collaborative Coaching: Partner with general education teachers to push-in or pull-out providing strategies to make core content accessible to English learners.
- Individualized Support: Maintain and update Individualized Language Plans (ILPs) for a diverse caseload of students with varying proficiency levels.
- Family Advocacy: Act as a primary point of contact for non-English speaking families facilitating communication and fostering a welcoming school environment.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Education TESOL or a related field required.
- Valid State Teaching License with an ESL/ELL/ENL Endorsement (K-12) or current enrollment in an approved Licensure Program required.
- Deep understanding of second language acquisition theories and the distinction between social (BICS) and academic (CALP) language.
- The ability to pivot from an elementary phonics lesson to analyzing a persuasive secondary essay.
- Fluency in a second language is a plus.
- Proficiency with digital learning tools (e.g. Duolingo for Schools Lexia or Google Classroom).
Additional Information :
Teacher salaries will be based on experience degree level and licensure per the SY 2025-26 Salary Schedule range.
