Job Title: Registered Nurse NICU/Postpartum (Maternal Child Health Float)
Location: Ithaca NY

Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift (3x12)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Maternal Child Health team in a float role between NICU and Postpartum units. The RN will provide professional direct patient care to a designated group of patients ensuring comprehensive support for both mothers and newborns.
This role requires flexibility strong clinical expertise and the ability to independently manage couplet care while adapting to both NICU and Postpartum environments.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in accordance with nursing standards and scope of practice
- Float between NICU and Postpartum units as needed
- Provide comprehensive care for mother-baby couplets independently
- Perform patient assessments monitoring and data collection
- Develop and implement individualized care plans
- Evaluate patient progress and adjust care as needed
- Address physical emotional psychological educational and spiritual patient needs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Follow guidelines and best practices from recognized maternal-child health organizations (e.g. AWHONN ACOG NNA AORN)
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Required Education
- Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS)
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience
- Minimum 3 years of Postpartum experience
- Prior experience floating between NICU and Postpartum units required
- Proven ability to care for mother-baby couplets independently
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
