Job Summary
SUMMARY: Cleans and rough finishes surfaces of forgings by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.
Positions forging under grinding wheel.
Grabs grinder handles and pulls wheel down against forging to remove projections such as flash and parting lines from surface.
Repositions forging to grind other areas.
Remove cracks in surfaces of ingots billets and forgings.
Polishes certain forging to a 250 finish using snag grinder and buffing bands for NDT inspection.
Dye checks mults and blockers to ensure surface is free of cracks when required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger handle or arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; and talk or hear.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.
SKILLS/EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum 6 months experience in an industrial environment required
Current Forklift license is a plus but not required
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles extreme heat risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Hours: Must be available to work any assigned shift. 1st (6am-2pm) 2nd (2pm-10pm) 3rd (10pm-6am)
