Histology Cytology Prep Technician- PRN

Inova Central Laboratory is looking for a dedicated Histology Cytology Prep Technician to join their team at the Fairfax Medical Campus! This role will be PRN Day shift. 5am-1:30pm shift (no weekends).

Histology Cytology Prep Technician Job Responsibilities:

Resolves problems or communicates unresolved problems to the staff/management while maintaining coworker confidentiality.

Ensures cytology/histology request forms include all pertinent patient information attending/ordering physician and correct anatomical site.

Ensures proper stain levels are maintained covers all staining solutions and mounting media when not in use and stores them at the proper temperature.

Identifies and properly documents unacceptable specimens and properly disposes of specimens when completed.

Obtains/processes pathology specimens while maintaining positive specimen identification assisting histology technicians and maintaining laboratory equipment to ensure the quality preparation of all specimens.

Process specimens in appropriate processors/programs to ensure maximum quality of specimen processing.

Receives processes and prepares histologic and cytologic specimens by using standard operating procedures to ensure quality test results for cytologist/pathologist diagnosis.

Ensures final preparation products are free of procedural variance artifacts.

May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education:High School diploma equivalent

• Experience:1 year Histology Cytology Prep Tech experience preferred
