Roles and Responsibilities

• Two-Year Commitment
• $500 stipend yearly

School Leadership Team in General:

• Takes a balcony view of the school
• Assists the principal in making decisions to govern the school (shared decision making)
• Ensures a focus on learning and continuous improvement
• Guides the work of the collaborative teams
• Supports and monitors the work of the collaborative teams
• Serves as the steward of the schools mission vision core values (commitments)
• Monitors achievement climate and satisfaction data to assure that the learningenvironment is producing results consistent with the schools stated goals
• Identifies gaps in performance or processes and plans for their improvement
• Aligns schools work with the district and classroom
• Attend district School Improvement Leadership Team meetings

Team Leader:

• Develop and implement district and schools mission vision and goals

• Attend district and school SILT meetings

-3 yearly for district (one per trimester)

-weekly or as determined by building administrators

• Organize and facilitate all team PLC meetings
• Update Team Drives as needed putting weekly team notes in PLC Folder
• Be the main contact person for your team
• Lead/attend trainings/meetings with school-based teams/report information to your team if necessary ( i.e Star360 webinars)
• Must communicate with all team members and other teams
• Review data with team/align with school and district goal use information for instructional conversations and purposes
• Hold each team member responsible for the core tasks of the team
• Delegate the core tasks for equal distribution among team members
• Share in the workload of the team
• Extend support and encouragement to new members of the course/team guide newteam members to gradually increase participation in the team
• See that time frame deadlines are met by all members of the team
• Lead by example as an admirable teacher
• Exhibit patience and a sense of humor
• Make a conscious effort of appreciation

Teacher leaders can also be catalysts for change visionaries who are never content with the status quo but rather always looking for a better way.

Among the most important roles teacher leaders assume is that of learner. Learners model continual improvement demonstrate lifelong learning and use what they learn to help all students achieve.

Teacher leaders lead conversations that engage their peers in analyzing and using this information to strengthen instruction.

A school leader shares the vision of the school aligns his or her professional goals with those of the school and district and shares responsibility for the success of the school as a whole.
