Description of Work

The NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in collaboration with its partners protects the health and safety of all North Carolinians and provides essential human services.

The Childrens Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) is part of the Early Intervention Section of the Division of Child and Family Well-being in DHHS. The CDSA is the lead agency responsible for the oversight of the administration of the North Carolina Infant-Toddler Program (NCITP) a federally mandated program under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that serves eligible children from birth to age 3 with or at-risk for developmental disabilities. The CDSA ensures that evaluation treatment supports service coordination and supports are available within a multi-county catchment area and that children eligible for the program receive recommended services either through a network of enrolled contract community service providers or directly from the CDSA.

The primary purpose of the Early Intervention Services Supervisor (EISS) to provide leadership and supervision to staff coordinating services for children (birth-to-three) with developmental delays. The EISS is responsible for managing staff personnel ensuring compliance with state/federal regulations (e.g. IDEA Part C) overseeing Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and facilitating training. The EISS also works with contract community providers to ensure program compliance and quality assurance. The EISS will also carry a small caseload of children. Duties may include other assignments as determined by agency director.

Duties include travel within the catchment area of the Childrens Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) of New Bern which serves Carteret Craven Jones Lenoir Onslow and Pamlico Counties.

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The following Management Preferences are not required but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

  • Experience with managing hiring training and supervising staff that provide services to with young children who have developmental disabilities or delays.

  • Experience working with children 05 and their families including children with developmental delays.

  • Ability to integrate the family into the intervention process and provide coaching on how the parent or other caregiver can facilitate and support skill development on an ongoing basis using the childs everyday routines.

  • Must possess a degree from an accredited university that allows certification as an Infant-Toddler Family Specialist.

Physical Requirements (If Applicable):

Light work with some physical lifting. This work also requires the ability to participate in activities that are developmentally appropriate to infants and toddlers. Physical effort also includes being able to get up and down from the floor in clinic and family home environments lifting and carrying young children and driving car to home visits within the 6-county catchment area.

    Minimum Education and Experience
