Job Summary

Description of Service Opportunity:

The ESL Teacher will provide high-quality English language instruction to elementary students (Grades K-1 or 2-4) enrolled in the SOARS Summer Program. The primary goal is to support multilingual learners in developing academic language and literacy skills through engaging age-appropriate summer curriculum.


Responsibilities:
Adapt ESL instruction to meet the diverse proficiency levels of students within the K-4 grade span.
Utilize effective English language development (ELD) pedagogy including scaffolding visual supports and interactive learning strategies tailored for elementary students.
Work with the SOARS team and the Department of Multilingual Learner Education to monitor EL student progress and maintain a supportive learning environment.

Dates:
May 1June 30 2025
15 hours of orientation program planning and curriculum training
Specific dates communicated with job offer
July(CPS SOARS! Program)
Time:
8:30-3:00 p.m. (teacher work day July)

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate.

MinimumRequirements:

Valid Massachusetts teaching license in English as a Second Language (ESL) K-6
Experience teaching ESL to elementary-aged students preferably in a summer or intensive language program.
Familiarity with the WIDA 2020 Framework.

Length of Contract:

July 1 2026 through July 31 2026

Contract Amount

Not exceed $6500.00

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exemptemployee and have worked more than 40 hours a week you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours
