Job Description

Registered Nurse providing high quality nursing care for hematology/oncology patients and family members for a patient population within theInfusionCenter.

Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate excellent ability to perform patient assessments and provide symptom management as well as patient and family education

• Practice safe administration of chemotherapy/biotherapyinfusions and injections in accordance with protocols and guidelines

• Assess and monitor patients during and afterinfusiontherapy

• Act as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care throughout various stages of treatment and follow-up

• Triageinfusionpatients in collaboration with providers for symptom management toxicity assessment and needs for referrals within theRNscope of practice

• Assess learning needs and educates the patient and family in disease process chemotherapy treatment plan side effects and side effect management.

• Document patient information treatment plans and progress in electronic medical records

• Able to multi-task and manage a complex workload effectively to provide safe high quality patient care

• Participate and engage in continuous professional development safety behaviors and focus on the patient experience

• Communicate and work collaboratively with the patient family and health care team members to develop and implement patient care

• Deliver direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with Starling Physicians policy.

Qualifications:

• Current Connecticut nursing license

• Current OCN Chemotherapy/Biotherapy card (or within first month of hire)

• Oncology Certified Nurse (ONC) - Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation is preferred.

• BLS certification

• Ability to use problem solving critical thinking and priority setting skills
