API Test Lead Job Description

An API Test Lead oversees API testing strategies automation frameworks and team execution to ensure robust backend quality. This role demands technical expertise in API tools and leadership in agile environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design and execute API test plans including schema validation performance and security testing for RESTful and GraphQL APIs .
Lead a small team (2-5 members) in developing automation scripts using tools like Postman REST Assured or Karate while mentoring on best practices .
Define test strategies estimate efforts manage defects and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or GitHub Actions .
Required Qualifications
5-9 years of QA experience with 3 years focused on API automation in scalable systems .
Strong programming skills in Java Python or JavaScript; proficiency in JSON/XML parsing SQL and frameworks like Cucumber or TestNG .
Familiarity with agile methodologies BDD/TDD and domain knowledge (e.g. banking healthcare) is preferred .
Essential Skills
Hands-on with OOPS concepts Maven/Gradle and test management tools like JIRA or Xray .
Experience in regression testing service virtualization and E2E API scenarios .
Ability to handle IST shifts work remotely and join immediately .
