Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Board Operator in Louisville KY.

About you and this role - What you will do in this role

The Board Operator operates assigned board equipment or areas of the Plant. Operates the plants computer operating system to start-up run and shut-down the plant as needed. Performs and reports on operational related activities per the Operations Dashboard (OPD)-Tasks List. Utilizes discretionary time to enable sustainable performance results for the facility. Utilizes operations knowledge and experience to proactively operate the plant in a safe reliable and optimal manner. Works with Shift Team members to efficiently anticipate and resolve unplanned events within the capabilities of the shift team and effectively escalates issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate support roles. Understands the plants full operation and is responsible for its continued and safe operation. Trains other less experienced operators. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities - Duties projects tasks and activities you would be responsible for in this role

  • Follows Operating Discipline principles procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
  • Operates and field checks process equipment. Monitor process conditions equipment and control systems.
  • Performs tasks assigned to operations as directed - including field checks equipment preparation samples etc.
  • Ensures operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals.
  • Uses trouble shooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems.
  • As required initiates and participates in Root Cause Investigations.
  • Coaches and train others on plant operations.
  • Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating Discipline.
  • Monitors collects and inputs plant metrics for Statistical Process Control (S.P.C.) asset utilization conversion costs and production yields and identify opportunities for plant optimization.
  • Utilizes Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools to optimize plant operation and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the SPC tools.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned based on job role and department.
  • Perform process equipment troubleshooting minor repairs improvements and preventative maintenance utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines

Qualifications - Required education experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Current U.S. valid drivers license is required to operate a forklift.
  • Work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule including every second weekend.
  • Willing and able to provide overtime coverage as required.
  • Willing and able to drive a forklift.
  • Willing to adhere to all safety standards including the smoke free and drug-free workplace policy.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications - An expanded list of qualifications that are nice to have but not essential

  • Associates degree or higher in any field.
  • Previous experience in chemical industry.
  • Previous experience with Outlook and SAP.

Skills - Specific abilities and expertise required to perform tasks effectively in this role (must haves)

  • Process Operations & Control Systems: Safely operates and monitors plant processes using distributed control systems (DCS) ensuring stable startup run and shutdown operations.
  • Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Identifies and resolves process deviations using strong troubleshooting skills and participates in Root Cause Investigations to prevent recurrence.
  • Operating Discipline & Safety Leadership: Follows Operating Discipline principles and safety standards to maintain reliable operations while protecting people equipment and the environment.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) & Performance Monitoring: Collects analyzes and inputs plant metrics using SPC tools to optimize production asset utilization and process reliability.
  • Team Collaboration & Training: Works effectively with shift teams coaches less experienced operators and communicates clearly to anticipate resolve and escalate operational issues.

Physical Qualifications:

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Perform sustained manual activities at moderate to heavy levels of exertion.
  • Able (medically approved) to participate in the fire brigade
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment including but not limited to respirator.
  • Work in tight and closed in spaces.
  • Periodically work outdoors in seasonal weather conditions (e.g. heat cold)
  • Work at elevations.
  • Lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Climb ladders and stairs.
