    This position is full time year round comes with paid time off paid holidays paid vacation and is benefit eligible.

    SUMMARY: Provide leadership to faculty staff and students involved in the performing arts in the Sun Prairie Area School District. Manage and schedule performing arts facilities (specifically the Performing Arts Centers at East High School West High School the Small Theater at West and the Central Heights Theater) to ensure the safety and enjoyment of participants and audience members at all school district performing arts events.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

    Training Supervision and Staffing

    1. Recruit and train volunteer and paid staff (box office ushers stage crew light/sound techs etc.) in accordance with the districts policies and applicable laws.
    2. Train staff on safety and emergency procedures.
    3. Train and oversee the front of house operations of ticketing ushering and coordinate with PAC Technical Manager regarding sound lighting rigging and other theater equipment and its personnel.
    4. Be present at all daytime evening and weekend uses of facilities or have trained operators present.
    5. Supervise and oversee the Theater Support Specialists

    Scheduling

    1. Review and approve requests for use of performing arts facilities.
    2. Maintain calendar of events and coordinate space availability for set-up and tear down.
    3. Oversee set-up and preparation of use as well as tear down and clean-up.
    4. Coordinate internal and external events by following school board facility use policies.

    Front of House

    1. Maintain ticketing software box office staff and ushers for all performances.
    2. Coordinate and organize publicity to internal and external organizations for events that use the performing arts facilities.
    3. Communicate to maintenance and custodial staff any concerns or services needed.
    4. Create and maintain an inventory of box office equipment and consumables.
    5. Coordinate with the Technical Manager regarding safety inspections and repairs and replacement of equipment.
    6. Liaison between administrators facilities scheduler and the Performing Arts Centers.

    Budget

    1. Budget for and track all income and expenses related to performing arts facilities at your site and in the district.
    2. Create and maintain a 5-year plan for routine maintenance and replacement of theater equipment box office equipment and all soft goods.
    3. Oversee Box Office operations for school district and external events requiring ticket sales.

    Public Relations

    1. Maintain a positive friendly attitude and a willingness to help the public.
    2. Gather and distribute information about public events occurring in the facilities.
    3. Offer tours of the facilities to the public.
    4. Act as community liaison on all issues related to the performing arts facilities.
    5. Gather input from the community about performances speakers and uses of the facilities.
    6. Develop a network of performing arts professionals from the area and state-wide.

    Development

    1. Identify and book groups to perform in the performing arts facilities.
    2. Seek and encourage community involvement in the performing arts.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelors degree or equivalent in theatre/performing arts management or a related field. Six to eight years of experience in theatre production/management preferred. Knowledge of and experience working with theater equipment box office software and hardware and scheduling software. Ability to develop positive constructive relations with students staff and public.

    COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals government regulations and legal documents. Ability to effectively present information to students administrators parents community and School Board. Ability to work effectively with staff students parents and community members.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to work effectively with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals or plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.

    ANALYTICAL AND REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Demonstrated skill in written and verbal to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective organizational skills. Ability to create and lead staff development opportunities. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with students staff and the school community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Board policies.

    TEMPERAMENTS:

    Ability to direct others deal with people and influence people in their opinions attitudes and judgments. Ability to work effectively with people who express conflicting opinions. Ability to perform a variety of duties with frequent change in task and working to make judgments and decisions by solving problems making evaluations or reaching effectively in high stress situations.

Often the position requires the employee to work irregular or extended hours and meet multiple demands from several people. Must be able to perform physical work frequently lifting up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift push or pull objects up to 100 pounds using the appropriate tools.
